What is happening at The Wheatsheaf over the last couple of months? Only 50% of the dishes on the menu are ever available on a Sunday, despite getting there as soon as it opens at lunchtime, but nobody bothers to remove them from the one and only chalk menu board which isn't easy to read unless you leave your table and get up close to it. The waiting staff are a surly bunch and don't bother to apologise when you remind them for the 7th time that you are still waiting for your main course (after a 90-minute delay from finishing your starter), and I think it is totally unreasoanble to have to wait 3 and a half-hours before you get your dessert.. A great pity that standards have plummeted, especially as during a credit crunch it is that extra effort that will retain previously loyal customers!

Excellent pub food in 17th century
surroundings. Friendly staff. Orders taken at the bar, then served to you table.
Only negative comment is that the whole premises allows smoking and this can be overwhelming when eating there.
