The Living Room is something of a magnet for Glasgow's twenty and thirty-something hipsters. Bang in the middle of the city's business district, its slick looks, relaxed vibe and consistently good food and service are a hit with office workers during the day, and party people by night when there's usually live music. In the atmospheric AA rosette-awarded restaurant you can dine on a range of affordable hit dishes such as the crispy duck wrap, sea bass fillet with pak choi and chilli, and Thai salmon fishcakes. Drinks go down just as well as the food, probably because there's always something new to try from the monthly beer, wine and cocktails list.

I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself. A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself. - D H Lawrence
