Situated in the Georgian town of Whitehaven on the beautifully restored harbourside, The Beacon, home to Copeland's museum collection is better than ever after an exciting redevelopment in Summer 2007.

The NEW Beacon is packed with more museum objects than ever before. Tracing the areas rich history from as far back as prehistoric times and up modern day, using items from the Copeland Museum Collection, the NEW Beacon is packed with five floors of interactive history, weather, games and much, much more. Join the crew aboard the Maria Lowther ship, take cover during wartime in our genuine Anderson air raid shelter or investigate the weather on the interactive climate touch screen!

And if that's not enough, we also have a newly stocked gift shop on the first floor along with our Harbour Gallery which continues to have a changing programme of exhibitions throughout the year. Entrance to the Shop and Harbour Gallery is FREE.

Hungry after your visit? We also have a superb new bistro with stunning views onto Whitehaven Harbour and a menu to suit everyone's tastes.

Look out for the NEW Beacon, Whitehaven - a great day out for the whole family.
