Dinnington is a town in southern Yorkshire, dating back to Saxon times, home to over eight thousand people, it's positioned just twelve miles from Sheffield, and only a few miles from Rotherham. Famed in the past for it's Colliery and mining, today sees tourists and visitors alike, exploring the history and surrounding area, such as the ruins of Roche Abbey set within a beautiful wooded valley, or if the thought of a magnificent Norman Motte and Bailey Castle is wished for, Conisbrough can grant it perfectly. Or possibly the modest dwelling of Mr Straw's House will offer an intriguing insight into the Edwardian house, which has 1920's wallpaper, and many personal treasures that belonged to William and Florence Straw from days long since past. Museum lovers will linger at the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum where stunning exhibits are proudly displayed, or for those who love Mother Nature's wonders it has to be Whitwell Wood which has over four hundred acres to explore, wildlife, and the fascinating Three Shires Oak tree, where the counties of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, and Yorkshire meet. Younger visitors will certainly enjoy the fabulous Tropical Butterfly House at Anston, which has exotic butterflies, majestic Birds of Prey, and for the brave there's snakes and creepy crawlies to be seen.
