Born 1934 - English composer.

Studied in Manchester and Rome. Lectured in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Keen interest in early English music in particular the composer John Taverner. Has composed a number of symphonies, operas and ballets. Directed the St Magnus Festival (1977-86), associate conductor and composer for Scottish Chamber Orchestra (1985-94), composer for BBC Philharmonic Orchestra (1992-2000).
