Wirksworth, Derbyshire

Review of Wirksworth by Catherine Hill on August 24th, 2006
Spent a week's break in Wirksworth. Although I HAD heard of it (through George Eliot/Adam Bede - though not personal conact with her), location chosen purely at random. Great pubs and (without exception) lovely people who made us very welcome for the entire time we spent there. Great Guinness in almost every pub (fairly unusual) and local ales a delight. Shame they're being taken over by Greene King.

Brit Quote:
Men may be popular without being ambitious, but there is hardly an ambitious man who does not try to be popular. - Lord North
