"The award for best British film goes to..." tough choice, so we'd like you to vote and decide for us. "And the nominees are..." too numerous to mention. Many of the greatest movies have been made by Brits, or made in Britain. But which is - or are - the best?

I stumbled on this site and against my better judgment looked at the listings. There are some strange omissions, e.g:-
The Remains of the Day, a wonderful film.
The Servant...disturbing Pinter.
Lean's films...The Bridge over the River Kwai, Ryan's Daughter.
Non Lean...For King & Country, Shakespeare in Love, The Spy Who Came in from the Cold.
Otherwise a number of of your listings are top drawer...The Day of the Jackal (Edward Fox version), another Lean Lawrence of Arabia.
All subjective of course, but what rubbish like Sexy Beast and The Italian Job are doing in the listing is beyond me!

Can't believe Brassed Off isn't in list. Loved Zulu and Dr Z when I was young; epic films that have stood the test of time.

Stand up for the Railway Children Britain. Any film with Bernard Cribbins has to be given kudos. And a clever ending as well as the platform moment. Love Zulu but would go for TRC as my desert island fiolm if given the choice of the two

The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover at number 7. What a joke. Its totally rubbish. Either there are some freaks out there or this list is fictitious

Its a travesty that Lock Stock is so far down the list. Easily the best british film of the nineties in my view. Great cast, Great direction..great in every way

As of october 19th 2010 the Railway Children is ahead of Zulu! Come on Britain, this simply cannot be true
