I site my caravan here on a yearly basis. i have been coming here for 40yrs and have been on the 3 sites that used to be here. I can honestly say that since Richard and Ronnie took over this place has never been better than it is now. The showers are spotless, the site is well kept, the people are friendly, the scenery is beautiful and the beach is absolutely second to none. They provide laundry facilities with a drying area. I dont use the club al ot but whenever i have been in there everyone has been friendly. the food served in the cafe is fantastic and there is plenty intersting places to visit. I have never got sick of them. Places such as Port Logan, Port Patrick, the botanical Gardens etc. My young son also uses the van with his friends so the site caters to all ages. its great seeing kids out playing in the park and beach, having fun rather than sitting at computer games all day. I will never sicken of this place.******************

We've been to sands of luce 4 times now and are due to go again. We've always enjoyed our stay, and each time we've been, have stayed on for an extra day or two because its so peaceful. The owners have always gone out of their way to be helpful, and everyone in the club always friendly.I have also found the showers are always clean, as is the washing up area.I've been to sites where the children always looked bored and miserable, but not on this site. The prices are reasonable too, and with a great beach like that, what more could you ask for.Roll on October.

Sands of Luce Holiday Park was my first visit to the Galloway coast and surely wont be my last! My girlfriend and I had a fantastic stay at the park and enjoyed a rental caravan far beyond our expectations but this was nothing compared to the beach the park opened on to! Richard and Ronnie were very keen to ensure we would enjoy our stay and gave us invaluable information on what to do and where to visit. The bar was full of friendly folk who seemed keen to get to know us and were pretty persistent in wanting to teach us to fish! A great stay and we hope to see everyone on the park later this summer! We found the park clean and freindly (with the exception of thr bar man (BRIAN) very abrupt and forgets it is us the customers that keep him in a job. however richard is freindly and helpful ronnie always seems to be in the pub. we were considering buying a static van But on walking round the site, when the grass is being cut by employees, they DO NOT pick up the cut grass, which is trailed all over the roads ect and carried into the vans already there. there is a component for this on their machine. On the whole it was ok for a short hol . the kids play area could be better & updated. the shop (privatetly run ) seems O T T with their prices

Truly stunning! My family and I recently stayed in one of the rental caravans on this beautiful caravan park. From our friendly arrival at the reception to our departure everything about our stay at this park was what we had hope for and more. Firstly the caravan was at a standard far beyond any other we have stayed in - very new caravan, tv, central heating, double glazing and thoroughly cleaned. The site is also beautifully located with stunning views of the massive beach. Highly recommended but next time I hope for just a touch more sun!!

Reading the two negative opinions on this website, I began to wonder if this was the same park? We arrived, as usual, to be met by friendly and helpful staff, our pitch was good, the site well kept and landscaped - which I understand the owners have completed at their own expense, since the previous owners left. We had stayed previously, when it was two seperate sites; both run down and in need of an overhaul. What an improvement now! The 4 Star rating is well deserved. The club house is good and welcoming, the beach is cleaner than it used to be (apart from a few errant dog owners...) the site is well laid out and the people there friendly - both owners and occupants of the longer term statics. The childrens' play ground is adequate, as is the shop. If you need local information, just ask the staff where to eat, drink, visit, etc. Judging by the context of the complainers on this page, one is miffed because he got his tent 'damaged' by a sticker and the other (judging by the spelling....) is a juvenile who seeems to hold a torch for a non-existant halcyon time under the previous owners - nice enough folks, but not a patch on the new owners. We would - and shall - stay again. Everyone in business gets complaints, it is the nature of the beast, but these complaints here are a minority compared to how many enjoy visiting Sands of Luce Holiday Park. If the owners were as 'bad' as these two claim here, Ronnie & Richard would have never got the site up to where it is today: heavily booked, well frequented, a loyal following and a successful sales business to boot. Ignore the carping, check it out for yourself!

if this person had looked at the sands of luce web site.office opens 1pm on.the owners are very friendly any complaints could be made to them and they would do there very best to see to whatever the problem was.we have stayed there for 2 yrs now weather allowing and have always found the people very friendly as well as the owners.if the toilets get reported it gets seen too.recycling yes this is an issue.dog poo gets put in the large bin.the only issue i have is the people who take there dogs to the beach.then cover up any mess the dog or dogs make with the sand.there is a sign saying would all dog owners please pick up the mess.new england bay has the same problem.so come on people pick the poo up.everyone i have encountered from the tractor men to grass cutters to fellow caravanners are all friendly and willing to help anyone.the owners are very good.and are willing to help whatever the problem.thank you mary winter

Sandhead or Sands of Luce Holiday Park are one and the same. They are actually two caravan parks merged into one, so it is a fair size. Luce Sands are a beautiful huge expanse of sand especially good if you have dogs, I only wish Sandhead or Sands of Luce Holiday Park was half as good as the scenery. We stayed from 02/06/08 to 09/06/08. The bad bits : 1. Reception not staffed (ever that we saw). We met a tanned male on site dressed in casual clothes driving a sports car (presumably the owner, though he did not actually introduce himself) who directed us to go one of two places, then returned the very next day (once we had set up) asking abruptly had his man not told us to move, which he hadn’t. We were then told we had to move as another person had rented the pitch we were on for a year. No apology, ‘just move back a bit’. Bad thoughts and rude words coursed through my mind. 2. We were not given any information on arrival either of cost, local points of interest or even when the on site shop opened. Though homemade signs on site listed the shop as opening for three separate opening times in a twenty four hour period, though it did not actually say on what days. It turns out the shop opens at weekends only ‘until the school hoildays’ (what happens then was not disclosed). 3. The site is generally tired looking. Drinking water is not sign posted and the water was supplied through an old piece of hose and tasted metallic even after being boiled, bottled water recommended. 4. The washing up areas and shower block/toilets are not cleaned daily and suffer as a consequence. Our shower block/toilets were cleaned twice in seven days. There are only two cleaners employed to clean the whole site and they can only do what they can. This means that the toilets are repeatedly without toilet roll and hand towels. The hand towels for some reason when they were re-stocked were only filled approximately a quarter of the way up, which means they only lasted a matter of hours. The washing up area we used was not noticibly cleaned in the week we were there. The greasy spag bol sauce was a bit of a give away. 5. Kids play area is not fenced. We witnessed one small upset wanderer. 6. Staff not identifiable. No badge, embossed shirt or uniform. A helpful male named ‘John’ (who could have been anyone) arrived in a car outside the van on day two and asked how long we were staying and then asked to be paid. Unfortunately we did not have any money as we were not expecting him. John and the casually dressed tanned male driving a sports car do not appear to communicate well with regards to who has paid and who has not as we witnessed fellow campers being rudely told ‘Make with the money’ by the casually dressed tanned male driving a sports car when in fact they had already paid ‘John’ in advance in full. 7. The large orange circular sticker ‘John’ stuck on our awing window indicating the length of our stay was of the sticky backing that does not come off variety which left behind glue which had already reacted with the plastic of the awing window causing it to bubble. An unfortunate incident especially when you consider the awing cost £700-00. 8. No re-cycling on site or no information provided as to where to place your re-cycling rubbish if there is any. 9. No dog poo bins. The good bits : 1. Great beach 2. Bar and local restaurants within walking distance and the County Hotel in Stoneykirk, which serves the best quality steak and has a chef who can prepare it extremely well, is only a short drive away. If non existent customer care and a lack of toilet roll are your thing, Sandhead or Sands of Luce Holiday Park is the place for you. My advice, travel just a bit further up the coast to ‘New England Caravan Park’ and experience caravanning as it should be and you are near enough to pop down to Luce Sands and enjoy.
