I must disagree with the above reviews. We visited the Skylark several times and found the food to well cooked and the presentation and service were excellent. We also took our dogs into the pub, but unlike the previos reveiw we kept our dogs under control and tucked away under the table out of sight. Not hide them but so as not to upset people like those above. The dogs are only allowed in the lower bar and therefore you can if you choose dine in the upper restaurant which is a dog free zone. I found it very useful to be able to take my dogs into the pub, because if you leave them in the car in hot weather they can become distressed or even worse die. I feel the person who complained about them being in the pub probably does not own a dog, and would be one of the first to complain to the police if we left ours in the car. Well done Skylark on your policy to allow dogs into the pub, being situated where you are you must get lots of walkers from the moors and their dogs calling in for a drink and food, we will visit again when we are in the area we thoroughly enjoyed our visits.

Have been to the Skylark several times, the food is really good. On our last visit the 23rd of Aug we could not believe that on the next table to us there were 2 dogs ,to stop them barking the owners put them on there laps so there face and heads on mouths were on the table. What was even worst was when these people went the table wasn't washed, sprayed clean or anything I'm sure that we should be able to expect better than this . Not sure if we could eat there again !!!!!

Possibly the worst 'food' I have ever eaten in a pub since 1984! And it doesn't look or feel as if it has been cleaned since then either. The place was filthy, thick dust building up on every surface bar, sticky table surfaces, cobwebs hanging everywhere, yellow nicotine stained artex walls, dirty windows. The smell of dogs and stale tobacco was only overpowered by that of the deep fried, overpriced, unadventurous yellow food. The staff were extremely rude, even to the point of taking my car keys should i 'forget' to pay. In retrospect We should have left there and then. if you are blind with no sense of smell or taste, you might enjoy the Skylark (providing you don't bump into any of the unfriendly staff). Otherwise, do yourself a favour and choose somewhere else. Hopeless.
