I have just had a lovely 4 day break here and have to disagree with many of the above points. The dinner menu was very varied and there were up to 11 mains on there and although there is a small supplement on some of the dishes it gave you the same choice as the a la carte and it's up to you if you want to pay the supplement for that choice. The food was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was nice and uncluttered and the restaurant has been recently painted. The breakfast menu has all sorts on it although admittedly cornflakes weren't written down they had lots of juices available, homemade muesli, natural yogurt, porridge, kippers hotcakes, omelettes, boiled eggs or the full english breakfast. Plenty of choice. There did seem to be several students there they added to the atmosphere. A pleasant break we will be repeating

we spent 6 days at bathurst arms tho the restuarant was excellent the menu was limited especially at b'fast and the evening meal fortunately we are willing to try most things so just went thru the 7 dishes in the evening and had same english b'fast every morning' missed my cornflakes and b beans or black pudding or choice!brill chef tho as for the bar it was noisy boring tatty and no atmosphere unless u count the students!!! or locals who seemed to wander in and out of both bar and restuarant not sure who seemed to be in charge. accommodation ok but definately not worth even special offer.a one night stand would just about do.we did stay 6 nights are we easy to please or just too lazy to change!!!!!!!!
