We had a booking for 1pm. We arrived at 12.45 and were shown to a table. Our order was taken at about 1.00pm. We ordered a three course meal. After about 30 minutes we asked how long the first course would be, were told 5 to 10 minutes. At about 1.50 the main course was served. They had forgotten the starters. We said we couldn't wait any longer so serve the main course. This turned out to be warm and had obviously been standing in the kitchen for some time. At this stage we walked out. The waitress said she would ask the manger to phone us. This hasn't happened. On the way out were heard other people complaining. Why spend a fortune in doing up a pub and not hiring the proper kitchen staff. Will not go there again will not recommend it.

I went to the Plume of Feathers with a party of 9 for lunch. I enquired about their Morris Mayhem bitter and was invited to taste a sample before choosing. The beer was excellent despite the hot weather and it being the first pull of the day. Service & atmosphere were effiecient and friendly. The menu was varied and interesting. A misunderstanding over which dishes we had ordered was dealt with amiably. Despite there being at least a hundred other diners, the items we ordered were received in good time, were well presented and good value. Altogether a very pleasant experience.

Visited here with friends for lunch. Service was appallingly slow for no good reason. Waited 45 mins for starters to arrive. The dining room was very noisy and we had to ask if we could move to a different table. We were not given the opportunity to taste the wine nor was it poured for us, a bottle was simply placed on the table. No bread was offered. The menu was an A4 sheet of paper. The food was acceptable but overpriced. A very small starter of smoked salmon on lettuce with a couple of asparagus spears was £5.95. A tuna steak main course came simply on a bed of lettuce with a small pot of salsa but no potatoes or additional vegetables yet cost £10.95. Overall very disappointing. Would not visit again or recommend.

Generally the food here is good and certainly a notch above the average pub grub. The decor is pleasant and comfortable, although being surrounded by pub blackboards with signwriting on them does cheapen the feel of the place and constantly remind you, you are dining in a pub not a restaurant. I had a perfectly cooked battered cod with chips, my partner had the well presented salmon.
