I had been told that the food in The Green Man was excellent, so decided that on the occasion of a family birthday we would go to enjoy a perfect lunchtime meal. Unfortunately, the reality was a little different. The food was obviously pre-cooked and then re-heated and had suffered considerable "drying out", leaving the chicken supreme anything but supreme. The lamb shank I had would have been good had it been freshly prepared, as it was it was dry and lifeless. The battered fish and the vegetarian dish were much better, so at least two of our party were satisfied with the quality.
Perhaps our experience reflected the fact it was a Monday lunchtime and perhaps a chef was not on the premises; however, for any establishment to charge high prices and ensure repeat business, they must make sure the food is good quality and freshly prepared at all times of the day. I certainly will not repeat the experience.
As a final comment I must say that the Gentlemans urinals and washroom were absolutely awful. No care whatsoever seemed to have been taken to ensure a clean and refreshing atmosphere.
