Well, things must have moved on apace since your last reviewer's visit. The food is excellent, the choice of three real ales is great (as is the quality) and the staff could not be more helpful and obliging. I have not visited for some years and was interested to hear that it has changed hands in the past 18 months. The Brewery is no longer a part of the pub, but they still serve one of the ales. It was my wife's birthday and although the staff were not told officially, they found out and presented us with a dessert with a candle! Cheerful, with a somewhat cheeky sense of humour, the evening was one to remember. Great food, great service, great atmosphere and good beer. We will not leave it so long before another visit.

There is a certain endearing amateurishness about the Bell and its staff. The food is good, the house beer, Langton Brewery, brewed nearby is excellent and the village location and the building itself are charming. The Bell has always had a crisis of identity about whether to be an up market country restaurant or an idyllic country pub. It could be both, but it has good beer. The nearby Bakers Arms at Thorpe Langton and the Neville Arms at Medbourne have identified their markets and are basically food only pubs without palatable beer. Lets hope that the Bell doesn't go the same way.

The food and beer a good. However, the food is overpriced and the staff ignorant, and the owners couldn't organise a 'you know what' in a brewery.
