Lovely interior, wonderful food, what a pity the same attention to detail doesn't extend to the coffee, easily the worst I've ever drunk.

After a couple of very enjoyable visits last year, our recent evening meal was one to be forgotten. The starter of haddock in leak and potato soup was very bitter and not well received, while both the ladies in our group chose the braised chicken, this turned out to be nothing more than stewed drumsticks with very little meat. The desserts were passable but not too exciting. While we needed to ask for a cooler with ice and water to chill the white wine to a drinkable level. The cost at the end of the evening was a huge increase on our last visit, I doubt that we will ever return if this is the standard which they now feel is acceptable.

Well presented but the food itself lacked any distinctive taste while the staff were undoubtedly frazzled and unresponsive (quite a few disappointed customers commenting as much also)
Smoked haddock and leek and potato soup (had to ask for accompanying bread that was much needed to soak up the saltiness ) + brochette of scallop & chorizo with mango (very fusion...) for starters. The latter 'special' sounded appealing - and was so disappointing it was mostly left.
Shoulder of lamb (a slice some 1 cm thick, albeit very tender) with bean salad (tins of same taste better !!) and broccolli spears(that were fresh)
along with rib of beef adorned with mashed beetroot and chips (that were fine unlike the rest of that dish - beef full of sinew while beetroot was an insult to the palate )- neither dish matched the 'special' tag nor deserved being finished.
That said, hunger reigned and puddings ordered - the bread and butter pudding slice was delicious !!(unlike the custard) but the almond pie tasted of a sugar overload.
The place does not deserve any accolade nor a return visit.

My husband and I visited this pub whilst holidaying in the Cotswolds. The fixed price lunch menu was excellent value and more like restaurant food then pub grub. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed and the service friendly. I only wish I lived closer and could become a regular!

I have visited the Masons Arms both with my wife, my family and friends many times. The occasions have been lunches and dinner and I have been delighted with what I have received.
The food is excellent and not over expensive, the beer and wine is good and the service second to none.
The lunch menu is especially good with a fixed price menu but that does not detract from the very high quality of the food.
I hope that the young owners go from strentgh to strength and enjoy the success they deserve.

Were served a lovely meal by two brilliant waiters, from New Zealand I believe. On a busy night they still made time for us and brought the place to light. The only downer was the landlady we believe, She did do our bill up wrong however and saved us 30 pounds by her mistake. But full marks to the meal, it's presentation and the kiwi's.

Excellent food and service from extremely helpful and friendly staff. Music in the restaurant could be a little less loud.
