Had the worst meal i have ever had, sirloin steak was just fat and gristle, dishes left on table for 20 mins, when no one came we went to the bar to complain and ask for some money to be knocked off for such a bad meal, was told no and hardly got an apology. Would never recomend this place!!!

Yesterday we took my wife's parents for a meal. As usual, for us, the staff were attentive and our meals were served promptly. My rump steak was something of a disaster, which was swiftly changed, together with fulsome apologies, for an alternative choice - which was superb!
I was told their butcher would get an ear bending as a result of my complaint and when we came to pay the bill, there was ample compensation for my disapointment.
All in all a good result, matched by my wife and in-laws thoroughly enjoying their meals.
There is a bit of a sting however which has more to do with Marstons. Recent changes to the menu (they've deleted 2 courses for (£4.95) has not been a good move. The sooner they return to that which has attracted us in the first place, the better. With so much competition vying for trade - especially at this time - Marketing has dropped a brick in my view.

The pub was good as usual, but the best thing about it was the service we recieved from two of the gentlemen that worked there, Mario and Alex, they made our stay delightful and always served us with a smile, and i would say they made our day!!
Thank you!

A great evening,we were visiting the memorial for a dedication the next day and brought 8 guests with us, the food, service and ambience were excellent, we live in Surrey but will be returning next April on our way to Nth Yorkshire even though it is about 20 miles out of our way.

We visited the Horsehoe on sunday 4.5.08. We were celebrating my daughters 18th Birthday, meal was booked for 1.45pm for 9 people. We ordered starters, which took about 1 hr to be served. the meal was delicious when it arrived, but the service could have been better. Five meals came a good 5 mins before the rest were ready.

I went on Mother's Day with my husband, mum and young son. We were able to choose from either the usual (delightful) menu and there was also a special Mother's Day three-course menu available, which was fantastic. Despite being a very busy day, they were able to cook something 'off-menu' for our son and everything was delicious. The service was good - the waitress couldn't do enough for us, even though she was obviously rushed off her feet, and we'll certainly be returning soon. I did hear someone moaning that their second course was taking a while to arrive, which actually prompted me to write this positive review. We're so quick to complain but not so ready to praise. It was very reasonably priced, a warm atmosphere and beautiful food. Highly recommended.

Went for a lunchtime meal with a friend and we have both eaten there several times before with no complaints. Today however the occasion was spoilt by the particularly poor service and manners of the staffwho served us. They appeared to be loud and seemed disgruntled in there work failing on several occasions to even notice customers waiting to be served at the bar. They appeared to have attitude and this also transpired with the manager when we carried our complaint onto her as a matter of course.
The order when we finally managed to receive it was incorrect as we were served salad in place of the vegetables that we had ordered. Also overall service was poor asdirty pots were on the tables and not being cleared.
In light of this we have to say that the food was very nice.
