Great food. Great place. Alot of visitors today as Bank Holiday, however plenty of space. Good service and atmosphere. Nice and clean. Would recommend.

The Old Oak at Arlington has gone to the top of my list of quality country pubs. For some years I have been visiting Sussex country pubs for Sunday lunch with my family. It is immaculately and tastefully decorated and incredibly clean, comfortable and well laid out. The food menu has the best balance and selection that I have seen so far. The food is also of excellent quality, with attention to detail and nutrition. This is the first pub in which my whole family have been spoilt by a mouthwatering choice. The staff are also very efficient and friendly. My first visit was on 16 June 2012, on which occasion I was so impressed that I returned again two weeks later for an equally pleasurable experience. It is conveniently situated opposite Abbots Wood, for a pleasurable after lunch stroll.

I visited this wonderful country pub on the bank holiday, as did the previous reviewer. I can only say, that i think they have written the review for a different pub that the one that my family and i attended!! The Food was definately home cooked, Piping hot, full of flavour and plentiful. The staff were very friendly and helpful, we were greeted with a smile and left with our bellies full and a smile on OUR faces. This is a wonderful pub that is not to be missed. Real ales straight from the cask and Good, traditional home cooked food that is reasonably priced and friendly, helpful staff. I also asked to speak to the manager and i spoke to a lovely lady, to whom i conveyed my gratitude. Well Done!!

What a disappointment! This used to be a great country pub, but now it is terrible! I took my family for a meal on the bank holiday and really dissappointed at the frozen microwaved dogs dinner that was served to us by some lack lusted staff! I complained and asked for the manager who I have often been srved by before. I was told that they had since left along with the head chef. The new owners clearly have little idea of what home cooked food is! And the service was little better than the food, but not a smile in sight. If you like frozen food served in a dull (a somewhat dirty) pub, then this is the place for you! If not try the Yew Tree in Arlington, friendly staff, great food and smiles all round.

This pub has gone down hill since other management have left, manager very rude and always having a go at her staff went not needed! not a very welcoming place at all, especially when you have to walk in to see that! owners need to have a word, other then that food and staff was lovely.

Our fourth visit in about two years. As usual, the staff are welcoming, friendly and efficient. The food is very good with a wide range of choices at very reasonable prices. Only one suggestion - if you book for a meal in the winter months, do as we do and ask for a table away from the door!

What a disappointment- had many a good meal here over the years but something has gone wrong.Should have been more aware when i booked a table for six on new years day and was surprised that it was so easy.Pub was not very warm and not helped by a door constantly been left open. Food took over one hour to arrive and when it did plates were luke warm and so was the food. What was ment to be a family occasion was ruined. Surgest the owners employ more staff retrain them and put another log on the fire!!!! Needless to say we will find another pub to eat at after our walk in Abbots Wood in future.

We pre-booked our family Christmas Lunch for 12 from the delightful menu. The result was a veritable banquet served promptly at our table amid the incessant chatter, pulling of crackers and party poppers and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. We must congratulate the management, chef and waiting staff for making this a truly memorable occasion. This is not a commercial but it ought to be!

One of the worst places we have dined in.We were a family group of 7 adults and 2 young children,we had to wait over 1hr for our meal to be served. The roast was on cold plates, meat was fatty and tough.Vegtable portions were very tiny 3 little dishes between 5 adults.Rather spoilt a family reunion.

This pub is well worth trekking off the beaten track. A vast range of home-cooked food and friendly staff makes you want to move in permanently!

i went to the oak for a meal with my family and i have to say the pub itself was traditional and very warming with lovely gardens however we waited very long for our food which to say the least was not very nice at all, the service was bad, with a rather moody sulky waitress and not much better bar staff ,i wasnt made to feel welcome at all and the was a rather cold atmosphere i would not reccomend this as a place to go and eat

I can summarise the Old Oak Inn with simple no-nonsense terms: warm beer, over-priced poor quality food, ignorant lazy staff (borderline abusive). My advice is to avoid this place and try the other pubs in the area that understand the meaning of customer service.
