Isnt it always nice when establishments take criticism as a way of improving their business?
Unfortunately the manager of the Fleur De Leys fails to see how his attitude upsets his customers and how he comes across as arrogant and uninterested. His staff look embarrassed around him and his idea of customer service is entirely non-existant.
I having worked in the pub/restaurant trade in the past and know how customers can be on occassions. However I failed to lose my temper at the FdL in respect to his staff. However you know it is never good when someone working in this industry cannot even be civil or make eye-contact. This should have been a warning of his rudeness to come!
He is the worst person I have ever met in over 20 years working/frequenting the pub/restaurant trade.

One of the rudest members of staff I have ever had the misfortune to be served by. Ruined our friend's birthday treat. Shame he's in charge too - a disgrace! As an expereinced pub/restaurant goer probably the singlarly most out of touch manager I have ever met and least friendly.

Great pub, super food and a friendly atmosphere make this a pub i will be returning to very soon. I have heard that the pies are pretty delicious too, but i had the Christmas Fayre menu which was very good with my work colleagues.
This is well worth the drive, and i hope you enjoy as much as i did.
P.S. Try the Winter Pimms!!!!

I have been visiting this pub on & off for about 30 yrs - originally a local, whose family owned farm land adjacent to this lovely looking pub. It certainly is a lovely building, at a lovely location - BUT sadly the attitude of the ownership shatters any illusion that the look of the place matches the ambience you will feel when there. In this day and age with pubs closing on a regular basis it saddens me that someone with such an unfriendly, ill mannered & atrocious set of social skills can look after such a wonderful property. Sadly - I along with local friends and other people I know - who all used to frequent the place will NOT be visiting this place again. But then again - it won't be long until the ownership changes with an attitude like this. Good Luck - he needs it!!

Was at the fleur de lys on saturday 26th april, when we had our first glimpse of summer.
was really nice to see that they are keeping up the standard at the fleur de lys. the garden was fully decked out in pimm's parephernalia which looked stunning under the gorgeous sun. and it had certainly attracted the crowds, the place was heaving, we didn't eat, but just had some drinks by the canal. the atmosphere of the place was superb. the staff were all helpful and friendly even though they were clearly rushed, and as usual all the drinks were top quality. we had a most enjoyable afternoon, and by the looks of peoples faces around us, so did everyone else. genuinely can't think of a better way to spend a summers day.

Went to the fleur de lys with a couple of work colleagues. We were all extremely impressed with the whole experience. The pub itself is gorgeous, and the food and the beer matched up to our expectations as well.

Nice country pub in lovely setting. Our food was overcooked to the extreme, the waitress did not know which dish was which and the canal side wooden tables filthy. Some people who were sitting by us, clearly also dissatisfied, were refused a refund when a meal was sent back because “the chef has cooked it now”. We will never return and feel sorry for the locals as this is their only pub.
