A rude and unfriendly welcome at Abbey View. Having had a very pleasant visit in the past we had no hesitation when in the area to call again. How wrong can you be. After ordering a drink we asked for the bar meal menu. We don't have one, well perhaps some nibbles - this is a restaurant came the rude reply. We left our considerably priced drinks and left vowing never to return. Perhaps the staff could have encouraged us to try their menu or persuaded us to have lunch, this person was just not interested. Nor were we!! Mr and Mrs Stenton.

Six of us dined here last night for my mother's 73rd birthday celebration.
What a beautiful venue - it feels lovely and old, and is decorated in a style that matches it's ambience. When we arrived, the Abbey is just across from the Inn, and looked beautiful set amongst all the greenery. When we left late evening, the Abbey was lit by ambient lighting, and looked like something out of a fairytale.
The food was excellent and good value for money. I have been to more expensive places that didn't have the feeling of quality that I experienced here.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Altogether, we had a marvellous time - good food, good company, good venue. What more could you ask?
