As a young student I worked during my summer holidays at the Wensleydale Heifer Inn in 1967 and 1968 when the owners were Mr. and Mrs. HATJE.
Congratulations to the new owners who made an excellent "job" and improved the Hotel so that it is one of the BEST in Yorkshire!
I had lunch there on the 29 of december last year and
apart from the sincere kindness of the warm welcome the food was really unforgettable (and the bill was very "small" compared with the quality of the food and the service).
Congratulations again.

We have just returned for a 3 day break to this wonderfull hotel & restaurant, and I just couldnt believe this jem is not already on Trip Advisor site.
We arrived at the hotel on a cold Friday afternoon after hearing, and reading great reports about the newly refurbish restaurant, we were greated by Chris the general manager, he told us that the rooms too had also gone through a tranformtion and informed us that we were staying in the Heifer Room, it sounded fun, but no amount of excitment could prepare us for what we were about to recieve. The room was by far the niciest hotel room i have ever stayed in, it had a spa bath, star lights in the ceiling, dvd, flat screen tv, complemtary sherry, the list goes on and on. At 7.30pm we went to the restaurant for dinner, the place was packed which is always a good sign, we got a space in the whisky club room with a fantastic real fire for a pre dinner drink and delicious canapes. It was more like a dinner party as all of us in the lounge chatted about the upcoming feast, we spoke to one couple who have been twice a week since the refurbishment was completed in Ocotober!!!. I wont go into the meal in detail, you really do have to experiance it for yourself!! All I will say is that I can still taste the amazing flavours of my Maple Roast Lobster Salad!!. Breakfat the next morning was great and our whole three day stay was one of the most relaxing experiances i have ever had. On the Monday morning when we went to check out we thought our bill was wronge as they had only charged us for 2 nights not three, we asked the manager about this and he told us that even though we didnt book on its special 3 for 2 deal it had still been credited to us. Nice to feel like you have stayed at an honest place!! Finally all i can say about this place is to get booked up now before you cant get in !!!!
