Dire. Restaurant prices for poorly prepared bar snacks. indifferent staff. very expensive but small quantities of food. prententious descriptions of entirely average dishes. used to be great - is now just trading on past glories. instead if dining there, drive on to Benllech, go to the co op, buy some chips and a findus meal from the freezer qnd cook at your house or holiday home - you'll be far happier with the result. avoid the Ship Inn

I visited the Ship Inn on a tuesday evening. I had the greatest pleasure when I visited these premises with my friends. I have a disability and have to use walking sticks to which they accomadated me very well. We may have been a little noisy with our laughter and hope that we didnt spoil the other patrons evening. We had such a good time, with excellent food and drinks; we had the steak and dressed crab and special desserts. The pleasure was added to by such wonderful, attentive and efficient staff and the atmosphere was warm and so welcoming with the log fire burning brightly. We will most definitely be visiting again sometime, if they will have us. We wish to thank them for giving us a wonderful evening which was special and memory making. Also a special well done to the chef for the perfect meal. We are all looking forward to our next visit, especially me. My sincere thanks to all the staff.

Very disappointed - beautiful location (which this pub is evidently reliant upon) but over-priced, pretentious, total lack of service by completely disinterested staff and smelly loos! Don't bother :-(

An olde rustic inn on a lovely bay. There was nothing rustic about the food! Chef Dai and his staff Antonio were friendly and attentive. My swordfish steak was perfection, along with the addition of fried banana that I had requested as an old favorite of mine. No problem! said Dai. My wife had the fish platter and was very pleased also. Thanks Dai!

VERY DISAPPOINTING. HAVING PREVIOUSLY VISITED AND HAD A REALLY NICE MEAL. OVER HALF THE OPTIONS ON THE MENU WERE NOT AVAILABLE. OVER PRICED, VERY SMALL PORTIONS, MEMBERS OF THE GROUP HAD FINISHED THE MEAL BEFORE OTHERS HAD EVEN BEEN SERVED. TRIED TO COMPLAIN TO THE LANDLADY BUT IT FELL ON DEAF EARS. OUR PARTY OF EIGHT WILL NEVER RETURN

It's a pity that most of us are likely to turn to a review site when we've had a bad experience with a product or service, but I'm afraid that's the way of the world. We called at Red Wharf Bay today for a walk along the beach, and thought we'd grab a half and a sandwich for lunch. I have been told by several folk that the food at the Ship is good and, although I've had a fairly poor experience once before, thought we'd give it a go. At £4.95 for a sandwich featuring Welsh cheese, I hoped I'd get something special. No such luck! Two rounds of standard sliced granary loaf - available in any supermarket, filled with grated, tasteless, rubbery stuff, and cut into triangles. The bread so floppy that it can't contain the cheese when I pick it up. Admittedly, it's served with a bit of salad on the side (a bit of lettuce, tomato and onion, and a single piece of rocket), but this doesn't make up for such a woeful sandwich. At least the beer was OK. You may be thinking that, for £4.95, why am I complaining. Well, it was really very poor. And I'm about to write a review (if I can find somewhere to do it) for somewhere else that served me a beautifully cooked piece of salmon with a beetroot salsa and couscous, for only £1.50 more than the Ship's lamentable offering. I mentioned I'd been to the Ship before. That was about 18 months ago, for an evening meal. I had the vegetarian option, which turned out to be the veg that everyone else was having, done as a bake, with the same veg on the side. Not only lazy, but insulting to vegetarians. If you can't be bothered to find some decent recipes, why bother offering an option. Not sure why I gave them a second chance...

We would love to review the Ship Inn, which we attempted to visit for lunch, but are unable to as we were asked to remove our vehicle from the car park before we had even entered the pub. Although our vehicle was parked wholly within the white lines of the bay and causing no obstruction, the vehicle itself was the victim of the discrimination as, and we quote, "the landlord hates camper vans". My sister had already visited the Ship Inn and recommended it so it was a great disappointment to our party of five to receive such a welcome, not to mention rather embarrassing. My father, a former publican, was also rather surprised that the landlord could afford to be so selective. Needless to say, we drove elsewhere and spent our £75 in a more welcoming establishment. Fellow camper van drivers be warned!

The Ship Inn was recommended by 3 different people (all foodies), so we thought we would treat ourselves to a nice meal. We ordered sausage, chips and green for the 2 children (aged 4 & 2) @ £4.55 per meal. The sausage was not edible it was completely burnt! We were asked to choose something different as that batch of sausage was all burnt and someone else had already complained. So how can this be "freshly prepared" as stated, and why didn't they tell us at the point of ordering, and why did they bring it to our table knowing it was burnt??!!?? Needless to say we didn't pay for the 2 children's meals, though how do you explain the situation to 2 hungry children?! My husband and I ordered chicken escalope on a bed of corainder cous cous with lime mayonnaise, approx £9.00 each - sounds very tempting? It wasn't even "average" it was again poor! Chicken overcooked, hardly any coriander in the cous cous, therefore tasteless and a tiny blob of mayo on the chicken. So overall we completely wasted £30 and might aswell have cooked around our tent!! VERY DISAPPOINTING! When we told a member of staff we were disppointed there response was "oh, it's a bit hot in here for the children too isn't it"!!!! When we paid and again expressed disappointment, they apologised and said it's probably because it's a busy time!!! No excuse to me and in actual fact it wasn't that busy!
