Visited as a party of six. We were warmly greeted, served outstanding food which was well prepared and to a very high standard.
The inn is clean and well run.
Highly recommended.

We visited Crispin Inn, myself, husband his parents and our 13 year old son. We were apprehensive after reading the two reviews already on the internet. But what a great place. The venue was typically oldy worldy with lots of character. The food, plenty and absolutely great. Myself and the in laws had Venison with what tasted like home grown veg. The venison was cooked to perfection. My husband had Guinea Fowl and our son had chicken stuffed with pepperoni. The deserts of sticky toffee pudding with dates and walnuts, lemon bakewell tart, apple pie, chocolate pudding with chocolate custard were enjoyed by all and certainly double helpings.
We had a rioja wine which was excellent value for money. We will definitely be visiting again. But you will need to book in advance as although a fair size to the restaurant it was fully booked.

Visited Cispin for a birthday celebration meal Jan 08.Nice old world pub, very spacious but every customer sat or stood at the bar making getting served difficult. Attitude of those behind the bar not brilliant. Booked for 7pm we started our meal with asparagus soup which was like a bowl of milk - no taste at all. Mothers cod znd chips were fine. The chips looked burnt but were actually very good. Father said his steak and chips were acceptable but nothing special. My wife and I had lamb in minted gravy. I chose this as since new dentures I struggle with steak. The lamb however was like trying to eat a rubber glove and I had to give in and leave it. We were very pleased the vegetables were cooked but the new potatoes were out of a tin or something similar and tasted of nothing at all. Decided not to risk a sweet. Our first and last visit.

Having visited the Crispin one lunch time whilst away for the weekend, we thought it would be a delightful place to book a meal for the evening; this we did for 6.30pm. The meal and the ambience of the place was excellent, although the greeting on arrival, to be told "you'll have to be out by 8" did not endear us too much to the staff and on paying the bill at the bar when leaving, we didn't much of their attitude. However, we did recommend the Crispin to our son who visited last weekend 15/12/07 and was quite surprised to hear him make exactly the same comments to us, although we hadn't mentioned this to him. So....lovely, place, excellent food, waitress fine, but the staff at the bar could brush up on their people skills after all there are lots of lovely pubs in the area.
