We came here today as the nearby, popular Swan Inn was fully booked. The decor that greeted us seemed somewhat inappropriate for a pub/restaurant. Better suited to a cocktail bar with the animal print and glitter, however, as we were very hungry decided to give it a try. The food was unfortunately as overworked as the decor, my friend had the fish and chips which arrived in a strange piece of fake newspaper surrounded by numerous tiny bowls which contained the peas etc. The fish tasted nice but the chips seemed to have been hanging around for some time. My ham hock terrine and "rustic" bread with piccalilli turned out to be a rather overworked and suspiciously sweet pate served with some rather stale supermarket ciabata, the piccalilli was flavourless. Having said this the service was excellent, they have unfortunately been let down by the chef (or lack of one).

I was down here last summer to visit a friend, however after popping down last week only to see the place closed and yet another refurbishment however as the nosey person I am. I parked up to see what’s happening and when they will be opening. After speaking to the builds the owner (Fitz) turned up and was quite willing to show me his plans. This guy has so much passion and enthusiasm about the trade and the village I can’t wait for this place to open just to see if it’s what he’s doing matches his aspirations. However I know one of the other places he was involved with and that was excellent. It’s so nice to see people who still have a passion for this trade and I'd like to wish him luck and success P Parker
