What has happened to this place? We have eaten here on several occasions and never had cause for complaint. However, after our meal this evening we won't be returning! There were at most four occupied tables, not a good sign on a bank holiday Monday. Our food took more than an hour to arrive despite the lack of customers. Bluntly, it was very poor : Lasagne was bland and tasteless; Caesar salad was a pile of iceberg lettuce and a couple of slices of chicken; steak that was ordered rare arrived medium; mixed salad was yet another pile of iceberg lettuce with two cherry tomatoes! Our garlic bread arrived 20 minutes ahead of the meal despite a specific request that it be served together. In addition the Ladies toilets were in a complete state with toilet paper in balls all over the place.Just dire and such a pity because of the lovely location. If you are in the area I can recommend The Fromebridge Mill or The Tudor Arma at Slimbridge but do not go and eat here.

We paid a visit to the Bell during a day cruise down the Gloucester/Sharpness canal to celebrate a family birthday. The problems started almost as soon as we walked into the bar, we waitied to confirm our reservation and be shown to our tables but were left standing and waiting for the best part of 15 minutes while two barmaids incompetently tried to serve drinks, but were unable to move fast enough to keep the trickle of patrons from crowding the relatively small bar area. After this mini debacle, which was unfortunately to set the tone for our visit, we were shown to our table and given menus. We all decided what we wished to have relatively quickly and upon sitting patiently for 10 minutes, figured (as there was no sign indicating this) that we had to order our food at the bar area. It took another 10 minutes of waiting at the bar area to sucessfully place an order. The starters arrived promptly and the food was to an acceptable standard. But once we had finished our starts we were left to sit with our dirty plates infront of us for the best part of half an hour before they were removed. Totally unacceptable. Our main meals were delivered promptly, all food was satisfactory if unremarkable. But the service was, overall, excruciatingly poor. The waitresses clinked glasses and knocked salt and peper pots when trying to put plates down on the copiously sized table and despite our many delays, we recieved nary an apology or explanation. Overall, a place to miss. Average food, terrible service. A real shame because it's in a truly wonderful location.

I'm a business traveller and am staying a mile away at the other end of the village. Being sensible I left the car and walked here in -4 degrees from my b and b. Was it worth the walk? Simply put, yes. The service was first class, the beer is very nice and the food was probably the best pub food I hav had this year (and I have stayed away many times this year) I had a sizzling stir fry on a hot skillet which took 40 mins to arrive, a bit of a wait but consider this: the skillet was blisteringly hot when it arrived, the food theron was delicious and very well presented by a very nice member of staff and I suggest this 40 mins involved, peeling cooking and preparing. I rate the dining alone experience here as 10 out of 10 as the staff in general are brilliant. Summary; great service great beer great food. And I'm not easily pleased. Al Greenwood

Have passed The Bell many times without stopping but glad we did so today. Lovely place and a great setting. Great food and very friendly staff, good prompt service and the play area and the animals kept the kids happy. Will be back again very soon.

The setting is beautiful, the surroundings are amazing and the decor is clean and tidy and the food is passable. However the service is absolutely atrocious, one person behind the bar on a busy Friday lunchtimpe period, a couple of other members just wandering around aimlessly. A long long wait to be served and about 3/4 hr wait for lunch to be served. The order was wrong and an unhelpful and particularly rude member of staff came out with the receipt to “prove” what I’d ordered. Outcome being poor little 3 year old had another 15 min wait for her lunch AND we were watched like a hawk to make sure we paid for the late meal before we left. No apologies or free ice-cream for the kids for the misunderstanding. My advice is take your money and give it to an establishment who genuinely wants you to enjoy yourself.

my wife and I decided to have a meal at The Bell. The staff were friendly and we were greeted with a smile and welcome. I had a pint of lager and I must congratulate you on how you keep your beers. My wife had the main course of 6 prawns and I had the venison. Both were excellently cooked so complements to your chef who,I believe is only 18 and if this is the case she has a great future before her. We were in the trade for 12 years and know the problems with chefs. You have got a fantastic one there so congratulations we will return without a shadow doubt. Pat McCann Pat McCann

Well where do i start!!!!!!Myself and my husband of 79 (who is disabled) arrived at the bell inn on a sunny sunday lunch. We went to the bar to organise a table and menus etc to be be confronted by a very rude and unhelpfull member of staff! When we eventually got given a table (which was upstairs when my husband is in a wheelchair)we then waited a further 45 minutes to order our sunday lunch. The food was dry, over cooked and the vegetables didnt smell very fresh. over all it was a very unhappy experience. We ate at the bell just over a year ago and it was super ,the manager was polite and the staff where lovely. Alas we will not be returning to the bell as i feel it has gone down hill in a massive way. I feel the staff and management need to be retrained and the chef should be retrained also. From a very unhappy customer who will tell there frinds not to use the bell inn.Its so sad

What a find today. Comfy, friendly and serving grub every day until 9pm - so just right for taking late rising relatives and friends when they next stay. Had a great ham, egg and chips - which came minutes after being ordered - followed by a tasty bread and butter pudding, washed down with a half pint of Thatcher's Traditional cloudy cider. As well as a beer garden and other outside eating areas, The Bell also has a barn with farm animals, a kickabout soccer pitch (balls available from bar staff!)and a climbing frame for the kids. And it's just a few minutes from the Saul Junction Marina on the Glos to Sharpness Canal - so a good family 'day out' destination all round.

the bell at frampton. what a FANTASTIC place! previous to this weekend, it has been a while since i dined at the bell however i will soon again be returning. myself and husband were invited by 2 other friends to dine with them last saturday evening. they are locals to the village and are regular customers. every aspect of the evening was perfect, food was cooked to perfection and the service was un-commentable. due to such enjoyment, we stayed at our friends and again went back to the bell for sunday lunch the following day. again high standards were kept, even more impressibly as it was very busy! will recommmend to all my friends and will certainly be returning. very impressed.

It seems to me all of the good reviews on this page must have been written by STAFF MEMBERS!!!!! Myself and my husband had dinner there this evening, it was absoloutley disgusting! The service was awfull and the so called manager was more interested in talking to young ladies around the bar. We will never return to the Bell, an awfull experience. It has really gone DOWN HILL in the last year.

I have read some of the negative comments made about experiences at The Bell and needed to add my comments to counter balance these reviews. As a local to Frampton my family and I use The Bell on a regular basis and have always found the food and service to be very good, however The Bell did experience some staffing problems over the summer when their Manager left and things did not run at smooothly as they should. There is now a new Manager at the helm and an excellent couple of chefs and anyone with any doubt should cast these aside and go and see what an excellent village pub and restaurant this is.

Sadly, had a very poor meal here today. As a visitor here for lunch from time to time, I have always been pleased before. Apparently the Head Chef left 3 weeks ago and now the food is terrible. It will be a great shame if this is not rectified, it was so nice before.

FANTASTIC! We have just spent the most perfect weekend at this lovely country pub set in the heart of the pretty village of Frampton on Severn. The staff here were most welcoming and our room The Fretherne was really well appointed, beautifully clean and had a great view of the village green and the cricket. We enjoyed a very good meal in the restaurant on the saturday night and the choice from the main menu and specials board was excellent. I felt it only right to write this review as the one previously listed was so negative about the staff and establishment, my husband and i couldn't fault it and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone wanting to spend a relaxing weekend in the countryside.

Excellent! Just the sort of inn you would hope to find in a beautiful village like Frampton on Severn. A good selection of beers, good food and friendly and helpful staff. Being regular visitors to the area we know that the Bell's reputation should not be affected by recent minor problems which were speedily rectified.

This was a very disapponting experience. We visited as a party of six , on reccommendation. We were advised that an order of salads and baguettes would be half an hour to 40 mins which we accepted, the pub was full but not over capacity. I hour and ten minuites later the food had not arrived despite two reminders that we were waiting. When it finally arrived the baguettes were all small, really only a roll and bad value at £5 each and roast beefwas totally dry and inedible(money was refunded on this one) and the so called salmon and crayfish was a very small ammount of salmon with six frozen prawns. The staff were obviously harassed and when we complained we were told that neither the managers nor the owners were around. This is very poor show when the pub was so busy.

Arriving in Stonehouse at approx 9pm and looking for somewhere to eat came accross the Bell Inn at Frampton. Two adult and two kids meals later an excellent dining experience. Cooked to perfection and served by very friendly staff. Have looked for a pub meal like this one in the New Forest area but not found one as good.
