The Red Lion is back on the map. award winning chef, the food and beer are winners. Ivor and asha de Lloyd have taken over the Red Lion this year. Ivor the landlord and his wife welcome everybody from old to young , children and dogs included. The food is fresh with a Caribbean twist. No microwaving here . three real ales on tap. There web site is www.redlionwinterscross.co.uk 01989730546 Look out for the steak nights caribbean evening, quizz nights

One of my worst dining experiences! Being in the industry myself i can be generally picky and expect the service and quality of food to be at an acceptable standard. I have to say the service was very poor and the food was dyer. Granted they have seemed to of had a busy evening but when myself and parents turned up and 20:30 the majority of tables had been served so why 30minuets wait on taking a food order? Eventually we were served of which I ordered the mixed grill cooked rare but when it arrived over 30minuets after ordering it was cold and over cooked of which I complained. In the mean time my parents were eating there meal so whilst mine was being cooked again I ordered a pint which sat on the bar for approx 20minuets before actually getting to the table! Eventually my meal arrived, meat cooked to perfection even thou I was told that the chef couldn’t cook the steak rare although the sausage had somehow gone walkies off my plate! The best came last, the bill. Asking the waiting on staff for the bill to be brought to our table was like talking foreign again after 15mins my father approached the bar and it just so happens the message had not been passed on but what was the excuse for another tables drink’s on our bill! Then the lost dockets for our table. It was nothing but a shambles and the staff always tried to infer the CUSTMER was in the wrong. Would not recommend the establishment until major improvements had been made with both front of house staff and kitchen staff.
