This small 'village' family-friendly traditional pub is a hidden gem. We had been to Haydock races and wanted a place to eat late Sunday dinner and we were not disappointed. The homemade food was absolutely fantastic and very reasonably priced with good-sized portions. The atmosphere was very friendly and relaxed, the landlords and staff made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble, everyone was so friendly, including the regulars. There were a few tables outside the front of the pub, so we decided to eat in the fresh air as it was a gloriously sunny day. It was very peaceful and relaxed, just like being on holiday, lovely. I can't recommend it highly enough, it really does make a change from all the large cavernous corporate plastic pubs with no atmosphere - in fact a breath of fresh air!
