After having believed all the twoddle on their website about how marvellous their hotel was and reading their guest`s revues,(clearly they had never stayed anywhere better!)we thought how bad could it be?How wrong we were! When we got to our room we soon realized that we had made a big mistake. The bed was fit for the bin, hard and lumpy and the t.v.had no remote but here`s the best bit,you could here every single noise from the next rooms and the corridors. It was as if there were no walls in between,I thought someone had walked in to our room in the night.Needless to say,we had a terrible night`s sleep and as we were working the next day, this did`nt help.We did try to change the room but were told that they were all the same so we just put up with it. In the morning after having a rather basic breakfast we just felt ripped off!..when you think about what you can get for LESS MONEY than this it makes you think.I do believe that without the benefit of the internet this hotel would really strugle, after all if you can`t get the basics right ie.`bed and breakfast`,what chance is there?

The senior member of staff was extremely pleasant and helpful with regards to Taxis and eating establishments in Wells , however the Hotel was the most disgraceful I have ever stayed in, from start to finish. There was a wedding reception in progress on our arrival, that when booking the secretary had not been informed about. The rooms were extremely dated regarding decour and furnishings. The shower head was faulty, the central heating system was banging constantly throuhout the night, the bed was hard with only one pillow each, the carpet in the rooms required renewing, the carpet in the corridor to the bedroom was patched with tape. On arriving down for breakfast at 8am we were horrified to be seated in an area with the morning after reminants of the weeding party still covering the floor and walls, there had been no attempt to clean this up, this is to include Party poppers, streamers and food. The dishes for cereal were filthy, one of my party took them back to the kitchen. The chef on duty that morning requesting out order did not even greet us with as much as a Good Morning, the coffee pot lid appeared to have been on the shelf for some time as you could write your name in the dust that was on it. Whilst we were consuming our breakfast the Manageress and the Chef decided to sweep the floor adjacent to our table. As my wife and I were staying at the Crossways by invitation of friends we did not view our complaint at the time, however I believe our friends were given a slight price reduction. Had I been paying I would have demanded a full refund. This establishment requires an inspection from the Environmental Health and Health and Safety authorities.
