I used to live in Wiremill Lane and have many happy boyhood memories here. In the early 2000's the pub was owned I think by the Magic Pub Company, which owned 3 or 4 other very good gastro pubs. The food was excellent and the service excellent with French waiting staff, when i last visited 'the mill', but this was around 2-3 years ago. Having phoned in Sept 09, not knowing about the change of ownership, (when I asked about the Magic Pub Co, the young guy on the phone knew nothing about it), I enquired about christmas day lunch 2009. No one got back to me so I called 36 hours later and the phone was finally answered by a young girl. The phone is often left unanswered, when it is, its answered by young people who are frankly dont inspire confidence. On calling a second time, I was told that they wouldnt be able to confirm if they could take us on xmas day for another two days, until the directors had made up their minds what they are doing. They have already got 30 bookings I was informed, but none of them confirmed. Having read other negative reviews, (service and quality of food), I think I will be informing them that our party of 20 (about £800-1000 spend), will be dining elsewhere. Its a real shame, my aged parents would have loved lunch here, we go back 3 generations in wiremill lane and for me this pub holds many fond memories, going back to the age of 6! I am now 48 years old and was still prepared to drive from Guildford on Xmas day! Never mind.

I have to say my experience was totally different to Ken's, something must have changed since his visit as the service on Sunday was superb despite how ridiculously busy they were. We arrived at 1.30pm and the pub was full to the rafters. A delightful young lady - Katy, seated us and presented us with a menu that looked lovely. The food lived up to the menus description and we have a lovely time. We didn't expect to have drinks served given it is still a pub, but it was full service. The chocolate sundae is to die for! We shall certainly be back, thanks to everyone there, especially Katy she made our lunch very enjoyable indeed Susan

Had heard a lot of good things about the Wiremill in the past so we thought we would make a visit. We tried to ring to make a reservation but the phone was never answered on many trys, so just drove out on the offchance, we neednt have worried it was practically empty, the atmosphere was dyre, service left a lot to be desired, food was overpriced for just an average meal. Menu was not very exciting, we went on a Sunday when they do roast dinners which would have been our choice but was told "we dont do roasts after 6.30pm" although on the menu it stated they were served until 9.30pm. In all a disappointing experience never to be repeated. The only good part would be on a sunny warm day the location on the lake would be pleasant.
