We were on holiday in a canal boat and celerbrating our Son's 40th birthday.The staff at the Coach & Horses went out of their way to make us welcome and the food was fantastic. We asked the new lady owner if she could advise us where we might purchase a few items like toilet rolls.With out further ado the wonderful lady gave us one saying "what ever you mustn't run out of these." We can fully recomend this pub and the food and staff.

I advise people to ignore all the negative comments!! I have visited several times now and on all occations it has been superb.
The pub is warm, inviting and friendly. All the staff are very well presented with supurb manners and a joy to be served by.
The family and I have ordered food here several times and have always been impressed. On all occasions the meals have been of excellent quality and worth every penny.
This pub is a belter and i would undoubtably recommend a visit!!
Just to note - As with all these kind of sites, only the miserable, moany buggers air their views which is a real shame

I'd just like to say that our visit was lovely. Had a very enjoyable meal, the food was delicious, and good value for money. The service was delightful, and extremely helpful to my mother, who has a gluton allergy. They even provided a gluton free alternative. If only the weather was better, then our visit would have been just perfect. Couldn't have asked for more.

The food was awful,one of our party had a fish starter and when it arived the fish was uncooked and so was the replacement meal.The main course was cold and when we complained we were told that that we were too fussy and no one else had made complaints.The waiting staff were very helpful but the management rude as was the chef who had used awful language when the fish was returned for the second time which we all heard in the restaurant.I would not advise anyone to visit this establishment.

First and last visit.
I went straight home to make myself something to eat as I was still hungry.
Starter consisted of 4 button mushrooms and a small pot of garlic mayonnaise. At a cost of £3.85 for such a small portion I was wondering what the main meal would be like. Bland is the best I could say.
Could somebody tell me if there is a new potato famine, or come to that vegetable famine in the country side? If so let me know and next time I venture out into the big green I will bring my own from Asda’s.

I feel i need to submit my comment,
This is the 4th time i have visited the coach and horses, and every time the food has been wonderful,very generous servings,& well presented.
I even got Andrew Lennox to e mail me
the menu !! which was great so we could all decide what we were going to order ,and also if there were any special requirements. now thats what i call service.!!The girls on the bar/restaurant are lovely and nothing is to much trouble. I am about to go to lunch again on Sat 13th Sept 2008 and very much looking forward to it.

I have eaten in thousands of pubs and restaurants all over the British Isles and Abroad.
Unfortunately this was the worse standard of food I have ever tasted. The steak and ale pie was so diluted with ale it was watery, the chips had been reheated and the vegetables presented were not only reheated but would have difficulty in filling an eggcup. My friend had ham and eggs,the 2 eggs were served solid, the chips reheated, and the ham laser cut.These meals were not cheap, never again thankyou.

I was a first time vistor to the Coach & Horses.
The service was excellent,the sunday roast was fantastic with all the extra trimmings, i was surprised at the wonderful vegetable assortment that came with the dinner. I know all places have there bad days & i usually dont "do pub grub" as i can usually make it at home better.
I will definatley be a regular here great menu as well . keep up the good work.

After reading the two rather negative reviews I felt it imperative to write my opinion of the Coach and Horses. I have visited the establishment on many occasions and would say that the quality of the food and the staff is nothing short of excellent. I have taken both personal friends and business associates to the Pub and all have expressed there impression of the superb quality of the food and also the reasonable prices they charge.I know that many people I have taken to the Coach have returned themselves to sample the very imaginative and modern style of food the chef offers.
On friday 25th January I stoped off with a business associate and we enjoyed the home made Fish Cakes with a balsamic reduction mixed leaves and a sweet chilli sauce. Also some rustic home made ciabatta bread and some excellent crispy sauted potatoes all for only £6.95 each. As always the food was of a very high quality and the staff are always helpful. I would say that the Coach is certainly one of the best food pubs in the area. I strongly recommend it.

yesterday we had the misfortune of visiting this "pub" for a christmas meals with some friends. we normally tend to pick local pubs due to the fact that you can take your time and enjoy the visit, but not at this place we were rushed to our table due to the resterant having a large party which was booked very close to our time slot.the food well wasnt what i expected for a trditional xmas fair the starter we had pate my friends had the mushrooms in wine sauce was excellent, the roast turkey which was fine lacked something due to the chefs choice of veg, firstly 1 very small roast potato and the veg to go with roart turkey was a stir fry of courgettes, mushrooms, baby sweetcorn and onions with chunks of beetroot. now i have been a chef for over 30 years and have worked in many establishments in which we gear the menu to the event and if needed have various veg options and fine that veg would go with ala carte menus but with an xmas fair deffinately not. the sweets were very good my wife had the homemade baileys cheesecake which was excellent. this is a country pub and the music thay had going from speakers that would have been at home on the stage of big group were far to loud my friens were about 3 feet away from us and i couldnt hear them speak and when asked if it could be turned down, the gentleman who did it was not very happy about it and later an older lady came and sat by us saying "oh a disco i love a disco turn it up" obviously for our intent!!!. the burning question would be did i enjoy it??? no not really and would i go back ?? the answer would be no. i like to go out enjoy the company and surroundings and savour the food all of which i didnt

This is not a pub but a wannabe restaurant! The unfriendly and jobs worth staff enforce the landlords policy to ban dogs from the bar (yes bar not restaurant) when food is being served is plain stupid! They also refuse to serve outside. Obviously a full house in the restaurant has given the landlord a false sense of his own importance. We recommend the Red Lion down the road, a proper pub, real ale, real cider, real hospitality, real log fire! Great location, terrible pub, avoid at all costs.
