I went to the glasshouse last weekend and had a wonderful time, the place has an unusual but in its own way cute, it is very cosy and a lovely feel to it all the staff seemed happy to help and were very polite and knowledgeable. The only negative on the evening was the wine we wanted was out of stock, but we were offered a good replacement. To start i had the capriccio of lamp which was great a little pricey but worth it, my wife had the crab salad which was very nice lots of nice flavours, the presentation was excellent. For mains i had the chicken stuffed with feta and wrapped in parma ham, my wife had the duck and we were both very happy with the meal. We heard by friends that the desserts are a must try, and they were right, the dessert menu has great variety, i chose the ginger and butterscotch cheesecake same as the rest of the meal was beautifully presented and made to the highest quality, my wife had the strawberry shortcake, she was a little reluctant to order it as was put of by the balsamic ice cream but wen she received it it looked amazing and the balsamic ice cream was a great hit. I would definitely recommend the glasshouse a great night out and it was that good i have booked to have my 40th birthday party there.

This was my first visit and first impressions were good. The decor is great. However the food was a real disappointment.i chose crab risotto with scallops to start followed by "sea salt marsh" lamb.? The risotto was dry and had been put into a mold and then turned out onto the plate with 2 scallops on top, there was no flavour at all, when the lamb arrived i was surprised to see that it looked exactly the same as the pork someone else had ordered. It was truly horrible! a lump of dry meat, did not have a lamb taste at all! overcooked and dry it was covered in a nasty rich sauce that tasted slightly burnt, No redcuurant flavours as the menu had said, I could not eat it.we had also ordered at the waiters suggestion a bowl of fried potato shavings. well these were burnt and quite black!! I did not want to complain as we were with friends who have had lovely meals there in the past but i did mention the burnt potato shavings to the waitress , she laughed! great!! Won`t be back, that meal cost a lot of money and was definately not worth it!!

Sunday lunch at The Glasshouse restaurant in Southend today was brilliant. Roast Beef was cooked slightly rare (on request) and the Yorkshire puddings should win prizes, if they award them for such things. The staff are well-drilled and above all the place has a wonderful, quirky, 'boho-chic' style to it, which reminds me very much of Les Trois Garcons in London (where dinner would have been three times the price!). Keep up the good work, Glasshouse! We need more restaurants offering this high standard of food and service.

We stopped by here on our way to town, and had some coffee which was excellent. On our way home we thought that we would stop by again and try their food this time as the menu seemed appetising. The staff were friendly and polite. I ordered the Bang Bang Scallops as a starter and on the Chefs Specials Menu I ordered the Steamed Scottish Lobster as a main, which I have never had before, but had always wanted to try. And my wife ordered the Pheasant, Parma Ham, Foi Gras, and Wild Mushroom Terrine with Chutney which sounded fantastic, as a starter and the Steamed Seabass with puff pastry as a main. Our waiter came back and told us that they did not have any of the Terrine or the Lobster, much to our disapointment. So instead I was offered a 3 fish dish consisting of Monkfish, Swordfish, and Seabass. And my wife ordered the oven baked Camembert with crustini. When my starter arrived it looked good, however when I tasted it, it seemed completely bland, lacking any real flavour. The sliced courgette and spring onion was nice and tasted fresh, but the scallops tasted under cooked. Also the finely chopped tomatoes were stone cold. My wife's atarter was nice but the asparagus seemed a bit out of place, and the crustini was practically burnt. The mains didn't fair any better either, the Steamed Seabass that my wife had came with asparagus again and was swimming in butter. My dish of 3 fish was over sized, and the swordfish was overcooked, and the fish in general tasted bland. We have had better fish than this elsewhere, and seeing that I am an avid fan of all things fish I was extremely disapointed. We also had 1 capaccino, 1 glass of sparkling water, an apple juice and 2 hot chocalates with marsh mallows. Plus the 2 starters and 2 mains this all came to £60 not including a service charge. But their coffee is excellent!

MY husband and i love the glass house,it is by far our faverite restrant,in the area,if not our fav place alltogether, the food is of the highest standard, the menu is varied and so imagainative, the staff are polite, and very attentive, you really feel like you have been well looked after,it has very pleasent surroundings, and perfect for any occasion,we have eaten alone, and its lovley,we have used the basement for a romantic meal, which was just a wonderfull eve, they also hire the basement out for functions.this wekend we are there foir a meal to celebtate my parents 40th anniversary. we are terribly short of restrants of this standard in this area, there is nothing else that compares in southend,if you havent been then you must pay a vist, you wont be disaponinted.

I consider the Glass House to be one of my favourite restaurants in Southend. The food is always to the very highest standards. The setting is both charming and cosmopoliton. Staff are both friendly and efficient. And at the end of a fine evening you can sit at the bar for a few drinks with no pressure from the staff to leave until you are ready. I highly reccomend an evening at the glasshouse be it a romantic evening for two or a familly/friends occasion.
