Visited during half term with our grandchildren. Very Very disapointed with what was on offer for the price we paid..(£25.75p for a visit lasting about 45 minutes!). Got off on the wrong foot with the young girl on ticket desk when we asked for 2 concessionary & 3 children only to be referred to as OAP's.(we have just turned 60!!)Realising she may have offended she jokingly asked for proof as "we didn't look our age" Too late, damage done!!! The children were given a quiz sheet to complete. Walking through a wooden door you pass a couple of caimen & reptiles in glass tanks before reaching a largish area with various imacculately kept tanks. You then go through various "zones" which, according to our 13 year old grand daughter, was "something or nothing" & to our 11 year old grand daughter "a bit boring" whilst our 7 year old grandson wanted to go because there was "nothing to do" & we had told him that, according to the website, he could "get up close to marine life". To their credit there are information boards everywhere emphasising how we humans must do more to save certain species from extinction before it's too late. What, to us, was supposed to be the hi-light was in fact the biggest let down of all...the walk through "perspex" tunnel,which is basically a large fish tank. True..you do walk "under the sea". True.."fish do swim over your head" & True..there are some (small) sharks amongst them. But at no more than 3 to 4 yards long..!!! come on. We planned to eat in the cafe overlooking the beach but, fearful the prices would match the entrance charge,we just made use of the toilets (there was no hot water in the Ladies as the boiler was broken & they were waiting for a replacement to be fitted)& left, choosing somewhere else to eat. On leaving (through the shop of course) I asked for the times of the "regular" presentations advertised on their website to be told we had missed one (feeding the sea horses at 11.30) & the next one (feeding the sharks)was at 2.30pm...Please define the word "regular". I also asked what we should do with the completed quiz sheet to be told we could either take it home or, with a shrug & a nochilant wave "put it in the box over there". There was no little prize(a balloon maybe)for those children who had bothered to complete the quiz. To sum up:-. We were very disapointed, in fact we felt the whole experience was an overpriced waste of money. We live locally (5 miles away)& know what Weston can be lke "out of season", however the Seaquarium is promoted as an "all year round attraction". Take our advice...don't bother.
