The term outdoor pursuits encompasses a broad range of activities. A weekend spent grouse shooting in Scotland could be considered an outdoor pursuit. Running a marathon, going on a cycling endurance trail or facing the Ben Nevis Challenge all qualify. Equally at home under the heading, however, would be white water rafting on the River Wye. They all have at least one thing in common though, the Great British outdoors. Pushing yourself mentally and physically hard is often part of the pleasure. Your efforts are well rewarded though. You get to visit fantastic places in Britain, you experience massive adrenaline rushes and you’ll meet new people too. Great Britain is the ideal place to experience a wide range of outdoor pursuits. Every county from Cornwall to Caithness is packed with locations for outdoor pursuits. You could travel around this lovely country enjoying long distance walks, surf canoeing, horse riding, clay pigeon shooting or even swinging through trees like Tarzan on ropes - all without actually clocking up too many miles. It pays to look through listings and select properly organised and accredited venues, you’ll always have more fun if you know proper attention has been given to your personal safety. It’s worth finding expert instruction as this also helps you get the most out of any sporting activity.
