Durham Tees Valley Airport is situated just six miles from Darlington and has excellent links with busses and taxis, for passengers wishing to drive the Airport is close to the A1, A19, A66 and A67 and is well signposted there is also a train station close by. The Airport has an interesting history, and in 1941 was used as an RAF Base during the second World War, In the 60’s it was launched as Teeside Airport and re-named Durham Tees Valley Airport in 2004. There have been many changes throughout it’s history and passengers both business and holidaymakers alike have risen to nearly seven hundred and fifty thousand in 2007. On arrival at the Airport there is a choice of parking with both Long and Short Term Parking available, and for Disabled passengers there are designated parking spaces. Once inside the Terminal Building Trolleys are widely available and the Check In Desks and Arrivals area can be found just inside the entrance on the Ground Floor, and there is always the option with some Airlines to Check In On Line. There are Bureau De Change where passengers can exchange currency and ATM’s accepting all major Debit and Credit Cards. The Information Desk will provide help together with fax and Photocopying facilities for those who require it, there is also an Induction Loop. For last minute essentials there are a choice of shops and Tax and Duty Free outlets where the Spirits, Perfumes and Gifts are sure to tempt. The cafes, and Bars have a varied choice of drinks and snacks on offer to suit most tastes . There are Internet Kiosks to help keep passengers connected and WIFI is also available. Baby Changing facilities and a Play Area will keep younger flyers happy and Serendipity offers video games and rides.
