Ombersley is a picturesque village positioned close to the River Severn in the county of Worcestershire, and is home to just over two thousand people. It has a fascinating history which stems as far back as the 8th Century when it was under the control of Evesham Abbey, agriculture and farming has played an important role with the growth and expansion of the village, together with glove making in the 19th Century. There is an abundance of black and white half timber framed cottages, and buildings which forge a link with Tudor times lining the roads. The village is situated on an important cross roads which once saw pack horses and later Stage Coaches transporting people, a legacy of which survives today with the old 17th Century Coaching Inn still offering a welcoming drink and food. There's also a fascinating 15th Century Inn which once played host to King Charles II after a bloody battle was fought during the Civil War at nearby Worcester. There are shops in the High Street, cafes and restaurants, and a 19th Century church dedicated to St Andrew which was built in the ornate 14th Century style which has fine stained glass windows, and the ruins of an earlier church nearby.
