Wymondham is an attractive rural village in the county of Leicestershire surrounded by beautiful countryside and woodland which nudges the border of Rutland, and is home to nearly five hundred people. It has an interesting history from the Anglo Saxons who farmed the land which had previously seen Neolithic, and Roman invaders living here. Agriculture and the production of Stilton Cheese played an important role with the growth of the village, which often saw Cattle Drovers stopping here on their way to Market. Today's visitors will uncover attractive honey coloured Ironstone cottages and houses from across the years, local brick built buildings, and an impressive windmill which was built in the 19th Century whose five stories grace the skyline There is a shop for that everyday essential, an antique shop close to the Village green, a charming Tea Room that has tempting morsels on the menu and a fabulous 16th Century Inn which continues to welcome visitors just as it has for hundreds of years. For those visitors who wish to stay for a while, there is a pleasing choice from B&B's, cottages and even a Georgian Rectory to choose from ,and as the village is just seven miles or so from Melton Mowbray it really is perfectly placed.
