Kidlington is a large village in the county of Oxfordshire, and is home to nearly fourteen thousand people making it one of the largest villages in England. It dates back in time to the Anglo Saxons who first settled here, and from its humble beginnings it expanded over the centuries. A stroll around the village will uncover a fascinating mix of architecture from grey stone cottages, elegant Georgian houses and modern buildings which line the streets. It's positioned close to the Cherwell River and is only 4 miles or so from the historical city of Oxford. There's a wealth of shops in the High Street, a modern shopping centre, and a colourful weekly market to explore, restaurants and cafes with tasty morsels on the menus and a good selection of pubs offering something stronger. Walkers are drawn to the village with beautiful countryside nearby, and the chance to stroll in St Mary's Fields found next to the 12th Century church. St Mary's has a magnificent spire which dominates the skyline, and is known as our Lady's Needle, there's also Medieval glass and ancient carvings to enjoy. For those visitors who wish to linger there are comfortable B&B's and hotels galore.
