Batheaston is a charming village on the banks of the River Avon, positioned at the northern edge of Somerset, nudging the borders of Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. Now home to over thirteen hundred people, it dates far back into the history books to Saxon times, and beyond, the Roman's also left their legacy here as one of the major Turnpike roads the Fosse Way journeys through the village. Covetously positioned just a couple of miles or so from the World Heritage site of the City Of Bath where the Georgian elegance of honey coloured Bath stone graces the softly curving crescents, and the architectural prowess of the Roman buildings reverses time instantly. There's a delightful peppering of houses from the 17th, 18th and 19th Centuries, add the 12th Century church dedicated to St John The Baptist, and a large housing estate dating back to the 1940's all of which ensures a pleasing mix. An intriguing part of the village is found at the top of Solsbury Hill, where after a steep climb the remains of an Iron Age Hill Fort can be found, with stunning panoramic views of the Avon River snaking it's way to Bath, and the soul pleasing views of the Cotswolds.
