Llandegfan is an attractive village that is positioned on the Southern part of the Isle of Anglesey in Northern Wales. It sits on the banks of the Menai Straits, and is only four miles or so from the bustling city of Bangor. It has an intriguing history which reaches far back in time, its main industries across the centuries has been agriculture and weaving. At one stage it had a total of three mills; a windmill grinding flour, and two water mills servicing the many farms nearby which led to the growth of the woollen industry. Walkers are drawn to the village as it is surrounded by stunning countryside which has a network of footpaths to explore, and beautiful views of the Snowdonia Mountains. There are a handful of local shops for that everyday essential, and restaurants and pubs to enjoy. Visitors today will uncover a mixture of architecture from the modern village centre, the Victorian Village Hall, to an impressive church that is dedicated to St Tegfan which stands on a hill and has a pleasing pinnacled tower. The village is near to the Menai Suspension Bridge which links to the mainland, and is also known as the gateway to the ancient village of Beaumaris.
