Greenford is an up-and-coming suburb in west London. Formerly an isolated agricultural village, Greenford still enjoys acres of open space with delightful nature reserves and parks. The original settlement began to grow with the arrival of the Great Western Railway, and a number of factories were established, notably for chemical production. Today, Greenford is a multicultural neighbourhood with a great community atmosphere, good shopping and varied businesses. It's also currently being improved through a £3.6 million town-centre regeneration scheme. A unique attraction is London's only Motorcycle Museum. It's located beside Ravenor Park, which is notable for its wide spaces and woodland conservation area. There are two lovely countryside locations in Greenford. One is Horsenden Hill, the highest point for miles around, giving stunning views over six counties and ten London boroughs. Here, green fields and hedgerows alternate with woodlands, while sporting activities include kite-flying and golf, and narrow-boat trips guide visitors along the Paddington branch of the Grand Junction Canal. Also well worth exploring are the meadows, lagoons, wetland, woods and scrubland in the local section of the 270-acre Northolt-Greenford Countryside Park. By contrast, the Litten Local Nature Reserve treasures its modest two acres of ponds, woodland and wildflower meadows.
