North Kensington is a vibrant district situated within the larger area of Notting Hill in west London. It's bounded to the south by Notting Hill Gate and to the north by Harrow Road, its main street is Ladbroke Grove, and it contains some of the capital's most popular attractions. Chief among them is Portobello Road with its world-renowned, mile-long market. Saturdays are especially busy here as thousands of visitors arrive to soak up the colourful street atmosphere and bargain-hunters flock around the antiques stalls. North Kensington is the birthplace of the Notting Hill Carnival, an international celebration of music, costume and culture, and it provided the outdoor settings for much of the movie "Notting Hill". To the north of the enclave, Golborne Village is North Kensington's best-kept secret. Centred on Golborne Road and the neighbourhood of Kensal, it's the epitome of stylish cosmopolitan living, filled with Portuguese pavement cafés, Spanish tapas bars, exotic restaurants, delicatessens and patisseries. One of the most interesting venues in Golborne Village is Inn On The Green, located above the Portobello Green Fitness Centre. It combines a bar and a Brazilian-flavoured menu with a gallery of local art and photography, and live music and comedy.
