Oxford Circus is one of London's busiest crossroads, situated in the heart of the West End. This is at the junction of Regent Street and Oxford Street, the capital's most popular shopping destinations. But visitors stepping out of the tube station are within easy walking distance of many other exciting places, from theatreland to museums and galleries. The warren-like streets of Soho, to the east, are filled with intimate shops, markets, pubs, coffee houses, restaurants, music venues and late-night clubs, while the wealthy Bond Street and Mayfair, to the west, offer the opportunity to dine in style and to explore the large squares and bustling roads which are dotted with luxury stores and designer boutiques. To the south of Oxford Circus is the area that takes in Piccadilly, Leicester Square and the colourful Chinatown: with its atmospheric sights, sounds and smells and its equally cheerful prices, this is the ideal place to stop off for a spot of dim sum. Those who enjoy a pleasant rest after a walk might head northwards from Oxford Circus, where Marylebone Road gives access to the delightful acres of Regent's Park, complete with lakes, ponds, fountains and floral displays including the famous rose garden.
