Ogbourne St George is a picturesque quiet village on the banks of the River Og set within the Marlborough Downs in the county of Wiltshire. It dates far back in time to the Anglo Saxon Settlers who first farmed the land. This delightful village has a wealth of thatched cottages, and black and white timber framed buildings lining the roads which date back to the 16th and 17th Centuries. Walkers and cyclists will always be tempted as it's surrounded by beautiful countryside where there is a network of footpaths to explore, and the Ridgeway National Trail which is the oldest path in England passes through here. A stroll around the village will uncover a fabulous Medieval church dedicated to St George which was built on the site of an ancient Priory, there is also an historic 17th Century Coaching Inn which continues to offer a warm welcome to visitors. There are no shops here within the village, although as it is positioned just a few miles or so from the bustling Market town of Marlborough it's conveniently placed. For those visitors who wish to linger there is a good choice of places to stay, from a comfortable 18th Century hotel, pleasant B&B's nearby and an impressive Coaching Inn to try.
