Fawkham is a tiny Kent village that has become famous as the entrance to Brands Hatch. Great motor-racing champions from all over the world have pitched their skills against the challenges of the Grand Prix circuit - still one of the most demanding in Britain. The history of Brands Hatch goes back to 1926, when riders raced bikes on grass tracks. It's now firmly established as one of the world's most popular racing circuits, with a thrill-packed calendar that includes motorsport, superbike, touring cars and DTM events and championships. The "Brands Hatch Experience" allows visitors to drive racing and rally cars under supervision. Away from the roar of the racetrack, the Fawkham & District Riding Club welcomes new and junior members, and the village is within a couple of miles of two scenic golf courses, the Redlibbets club and the larger London Golf Club. Fawkham nestles in a valley surrounded by the stunning greenery of Pennis, Horton, Choaks and Saxten's woods. Wilmay Copse, a Woodland Trust attraction at Fawkham Green, offers particularly beautiful walks through its broad-leaved trees. Visitors are not far from the nearest shopping town of Swanley. Fawkham is also close to the M20, the M2 and the M25.
