Swanley is a town and civil parish in the Sevenoaks District of Kent. The town boundaries encompass Hextable and Swanley Village. Swanley was renowned as a horticultural centre and became known as the "Home of Flowers", a designation recently revived by its Town Council. Today Swanley is essentially a commuter and distribution centre, still trading on its excellent rail links to London and its proximity to the M25 motorway. The earliest surviving buildings in Swanley town, known as Kent Terrace, are found in the row of shops in the High Street opposite the Lullingstone Castle pub. Swanley has a pedestrianised shopping centre with most buildings dating from the 1960's. In 1999 the Library was rebuilt and is also home to the Tourist and Local Information centre and a café. Swanley Park is a 60 acre park located between Swanley and Hextable. Swanley New Barn Railway is a very popular attraction in the park. The Railway is a 7 ¼ inch narrow gauge passenger railway. It has five steam engines and six diesel locomotives. Sidcup and District Motor Cycle Club owns the Canada Heights International Motocross Circuit at Button Street. Other leisure facilities include the White Oak Leisure Centre on Hilda May Avenue
