Worth is a small village situated near Sandwich in Kent. It is a picturesque village set amidst orchards and fields, with a central conservation area arranged around a duck pond which formerly marked the end of a navigable creek. It has many fine period houses including Barton House. The historic church of St Peter and St Paul has Norman origins, unusual wooden shingles on the tower and a roof resembling an upturned boat, which supposedly is where the design originated. There are two pubs, including the award winning St Crispin Inn and a playing field which frequently hosts cricket matches and village events in the summer. Nearby Sandwich is an historic town and one of the Cinque Ports. It still has many original medieval buildings, and whilst once a major port it is now two miles from the sea. The Sandwich Guildhall Museum on Cattle Market dates from Elizabethan times and has artefacts dating from 13th century. Other nearby attractions include the White Mill Rural Heritage Centre, built in 1760, showing exhibits of farming and craft tools plus a complete Wheelwright's workshop and a Blacksmith's workshop and forge. Monk's Wall nature reserve and a bird observatory can be found at Sandwich Bay.
