Ringwood stands on the western edge of the New Forest at a crossing point of the River Avon. For centuries it has been the traditional market town of the New Forest with its market charter dating back to 1226. The historic town is centred around the Parish Church with its Saxon beginnings. Many listed buildings like Monmouth House and The Meeting House dated 1727 all helping to retain the old market town character. The many established shops are augmented by The Furlong shopping area which has been developed over the former cattle market and provide a diversity of choice for visitor and resident alike. Ringwood has a Brewery and the many Pubs, Restaurants and cafes in and around the town provide good and varied entertainment. Make use of the town as a centre for exploring the New Forest and Avon Valley by foot, horse back or bicycle, or enjoy the excellent fishing and water sports opportunities or just observe the flora and fauna of the surrounding area.
