The village of Yateley lies in the very top north east corner of Hampshire close to where Hampshire meets with Berkshire and Surrey. Tracing its history almost as far back as the Iron Age the village of Yateley there is evidence that Neolithic man was here, an axe head was found in the local school playing fields and later evidence shows that people from the Bronze Age worked the area. Even as late as Medieval Times there was evidence that Yateley was more a scattered settlement than the village it is today. With London around 35 miles away it is easy to understand why this is a popular location for those that appreciate the countryside, Yateley has three greens which are designated Conservation Areas, some of the older buildings survive though you could be forgiven if you have difficulty finding them as they are now private residences usually concealed by high hedges. The attraction of Yateley remains though, ease of access for commuters, the local countryside enabling residents and visitors alike to enjoy the surroundings, the village of Yateley is certainly a place that has an appeal to people of all ages.
