South Woodham Ferrers is in the borough of Chelmsford, Essex. The town is to the east of Fenn Creek, near to where it meets the River Crouch. The town of South Woodham Ferrers developed around the station that was originally built in the early 20th century to serve the smaller town of Woodham Ferrers, which lies a mile or so to the north. The final phase of the town's development has occurred in the last two years with a new area of building near Fenn Creek. Radar Hill lies to the north of the town and gained its name due to the various radar mounted antennae that are on it, but its true name is 'Bushy Hill'. There are also rumours that radar hill conceals a hidden bunker. It is very easy to walk or cycle from one side of town to the other via Golden Jubilee Walk which was built in honour of Queen Elizabeth II for her Golden Anniversary in 2002. South Woodham Ferrers is also home to the award winning Crouch Vale Brewery, and small groups can visit the brewery by prior arrangement. Other places of interest include Marsh Farm Country Park, Compass Gardens, Saltcoats Park and the Memorial Park.
