Bigbury on Sea is a lovely seaside village positioned in Bigbury Bay on the Devonshire Coast, home to over five hundred and eighty people. The golden sandy beach is a perfect place to sit a spell, or maybe surfing, canoeing or swimming is more your thing. Burgh Island is opposite and is linked by a causeway at low tide, or for something different climb aboard the Sea Tractor for an unforgettable journey….although Noel Coward and Agatha Christie no longer visit Burgh Island others can, whispers of Pirates and Smugglers mingle with it’s history from days long past. There is wildlife in abundance on the nearby South Coast Path which journeys through stunning scenery at every turn. For an exotic and usual experience there is Overbecks, an elegant Edwardian house set in enchanting tropical gardens with mesmerising views, there is even a chance to play animal croquet…..for lovers of history the Cookworthy Museum of Rural Life showcases over nine galleries and shares an interesting story, enjoy a 17th Century Schoolroom, a magnificent Victorian kitchen and many other fine exhibits. Or if a round or two is wished for then Bigbury Bay Golf Club has 18 holes and breath stealing coastal scenes..…..
