Kingswear is a picturesque village in Southern Devon, on the banks of the River Dart in the South Hams, home to over fourteen hundred people. The pretty houses rise ever upwards, and look directly across the river at Dartmouth. For the inquisitive there is much to explore, perhaps the woodland trails at Hoodown will uncover Mother Natures wonders, or maybe the chance to climb aboard the Ferry that journeys to Dartmouth is one that should be taken. For lovers of history there is a buffet of delights on offer at Brixham Heritage Museum, or possibly a boat trip to Totnes will uncover the intriguing Norman Castle, the fabulous Guildhall dating back Centuries, once a school, Benedictine Priory, and even a Courthouse, there are interesting shops and a Market on Fridays and Saturdays or time it right and the Elizabethan Market makes an interesting interlude. Animal lovers are not forgotten with Brixham Aquarium, or Berry Head Nature Reserve, or perhaps the thousands of animals at Paignton Zoo will tempt a visit, why not arrive in true style at Paignton on the Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway which journeys through unforgettable scenery. Or there is always the fascinating story waiting to be shared at Sharpham Vineyard.
