Westward Ho!, is an interesting seaside resort in Devon, whose Victorian elegance lingers on, named after the book written by Charles Kingsley is blessed with golden sandy beaches, and is a favourite with surfers who ride the tubes when ‘Surfs up‘. The Pebble Ridge separates the beach from Northam Burrows Country Park which covers acres of sand dunes, and salt marsh. Why not stroll along the prom where the views of sparkling sea mix with amusement arcades, or if a longer walk sounds tempting The South West Coastal Path is near. There’s always the opportunity to play a round or two at the oldest Golf course in England, The Royal North Devon Golf Club which has 18 holes. Younger visitors may enjoy The Big Sheep, where Duck Trials, Pony Rides, and Sheep Racing are on offer, or maybe the Milky Way Adventure Park will grant any wish of live shows, rides and pets. Museum lovers will marvel at the exhibits at the North Devon Maritime Museum, or possibly the Gem Rock and Shell Museum will unveil it’s treasures. Or if the thought of meeting a thousand Gnomes and Pixies sounds tempting, embark on a voyage of discovery at the Gnome Reserve. Westward Ho! Is where memories of the magical kind are made.
